Ogier the Dane – book end

750.00 SEK

Holger Danske or Ogier the Dane is according to Danish legend said to dwell in the catacombs of Kronborg Castle, his beard grown down to the floor. He will sleep there until some day when the country of Denmark is in the greatest peril, at which time he will rise up and save the nation. The legend has it that Holger sat down in his present location after walking all the way from his completed battles in France.
The largest armed group of theĀ  Danish resistance movement in World War II,, was named after the legend.
The bronze book end was manufactured by Danish company Metro. This piece, however bares only a very vague, unredable makers mark.
